Sliding Back

The term backslide gets talked about all the time but when you slide back what are you sliding back into?

Well you’re sliding away from grace, sliding away from God and sliding closer to the devil and all of his ways.

When you slide back you don’t do it on a flat surface. There’s got to be some kind of downward slope to avoid any resistance.

We create that downward slope over time. It never happens overnight.

That’s why when God saves you, it’s not immediate that you get to the old, saved you.

You’ve got to climb up that downward slope a little to get to the safe place while God helps you.

But when you’re saved God picks you up out of the hole the devil made that you’ve been sitting in.

He’s got to break some walls down that the devil has built up in you and tear away some baggage that he gave you too.

You’ll get back to the old, saved you and who knows. Maybe he’ll make you so much better the old, saved you won’t hold a light to who he’ll make you.

But backsliding doesn’t happen over night and neither does the journey it takes for God to grow you.
